Meet the Team M. Kenneth Johnson, DMD, PA  Dr. Ken Johnson grew up in South Carolina and Virginia. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy (Salutatorian), received Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Erskine College (1979), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from The Medical University of South Carolina (1984), did his General Practice Residency at the University of Mississippi School of Dental Medicine (1985), and returned to Charleston in 1985. He has been in solo General Practice since 1986. Dr. Johnson is an active member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration, the Coastal Dental Society, as well as the Charleston Dental Society. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists as well as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Johnson is active in dental leadership, having served as the Vice-President of the Coastal Dental Society and the General Convention Chairman for the 2007 State Convention (SCDA). At his office, Dr. Johnson is dedicated to Comprehensive Care for patients, and committed to Continued Education of the Dawson/ Pankey Philosophy, having attended seminars and courses at The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education as well as the Dawson Center.
Outside of the office, he enjoys being a mentor and is involved in the MUSC dental student-mentor program. He has been on several mission trips, providing dental care for Third World Missions to Honduras, Central America, and Lagonave, Haiti. Dr. Johnson also volunteers at the Wellness House of Our Lady of Mercy, serving our local Charleston community. Dr. Johnson married Deborah Engle, of Sullivan’s Island in 1984. They have two grown daughters, Anna (married to Brett, they have one son, Hudson) and Rebekah. Dr. Johnson and his wife are members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant. There he has served on the vestry as Senior Warden and also enjoys leading the Men's Worship Team and other Men's Ministries, especially hiking the N.C. mountains. He and Debbie are also involved in Small Group Ministries. His other hobbies and interests include running, exercise, golf, boating, and traveling with his wife.
